Retro Gaffer is a browser game. To let you pick up where you left off, it saves data in your browser's local storage — this stays on your device and we can't read it:
g-xxxx) — not linked to your identity. You can clear all of it any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. (Heads-up: that also deletes your local save — so back it up first if you want to keep it.)
Nothing is sent to our servers unless you use an optional online feature. When you do, we store the minimum needed to make it work, keyed by your random anonymous ID (with automatic expiry):
None of this requires your real name, email, or any sign-up. Club/manager names are whatever you type in — please don't put personal information there.
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the game is played — which features get used, where people drop off — so we can improve it. It only loads if you tap Accept on the consent banner; if you Decline, it never loads and sets no analytics cookies. When it's enabled, Google sets cookies and receives anonymous usage data (screens viewed, rough region, device/browser type), handled under Google's privacy policy. You can change your mind any time by clearing this site's data, and browser privacy settings or ad-blockers that block Google Analytics are respected automatically.
We run no ads, we don't sell or share your data, and we use no other third-party trackers. Apart from Google Analytics (only with your consent) and the online features above, the only network calls the game makes are to our own services and your browser fetching the game itself.
Retro Gaffer is suitable for general audiences and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Since no account or personal data is required to play, there's nothing to collect.
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and bump the date above. Material changes will be noted on the updates page.
